Thank you for helping us fund this bus:

Warren McPherson, Marlon Lackas, Lyle Henry and Becky Fredell, Development Coordinator (from left to right) along with June Troutman waving and Terry Moore on the stairs welcomed the new handicapped accessible van we received through a grant from the State of Minnesota.  Colleen Guilfoile, Community Event and Volunteer Services Coordinator accepted a supplemental funding check from Kim Holmquist, Trivent Financial for Lutherans Representative, on behalf of the Chisago County Thrivent Chapter.

We have come a long ways from that tragic day on December 2, 2006 when our garages and three vans went up in flames. We knew it would be a challenge to restore our transportation service, which is a crucial and essential service for our seniors living in a rural community. As JuneTroutman, who lives at the Lakeview Apartments and frequent “Senior Shuttle” user, said “It is the best service ever. Many of us wouldn’t ever get out without this service.”

We are blessed, though, and the reason is that so many of you have come to our rescue to help rebuild our fleet of buses by giving gifts expressly for our Transportation Services.

Although a grant covered the majority of the cost, additional funds were needed to pay the full cost. The wonderful response we received from our mailing and donors specifically giving towards our transportation services, now officially called Transit Plus, made is possible to cover the entire purchase price.

In addition, the proceeds from the “Hammin’ it Up for Parmly dinner along with supplemental funding from the Chisago County Chapter #30087 of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans were specified for transportation needs. Colleen Guilfoile, Community Volunteer and Events Coordinator, accepted the check from Kim Holmquist, Thrivent Financial Associate.

We were honored to be awarded two grants specifically for our Transportation Services.

Replacement vehicles are being ordered. Plans are being prepared to rebuilt the garage.

When adversity strikes, it is wonderful to know our donors are there to help. THANK YOU!
