2007 Phyllis Lindquist Volunteer of the Year,
Dorothy Neudahl

Parmly LifePointes proudly recognized Dorothy Neudahl with the 2007 Phyllis Lindquist Volunteer of the Year Award on Saturday, August 4 during the Volunteer Recognition Ice Cream Social.

Established in 2002, the award honors Phyllis Lindquist, an exceptional volunteer at Parmly, and acknowledges an outstanding volunteer for their dedicated Christian service across the Parmly campus. As this year’s recipient, Dorothy exemplifies Parmly’s 103-year tradition of giving back and being in service to others.

Dorothy began her volunteering career after working for 40 years at 3M. She started serving the elderly at CN & C when skilled care was available at Chisago Lakes Health Services. When it closed, she came here to continue volunteering with the elderly.

If it is Thursday and Doctor Day, you will find Dorothy at Parmly. She brings residents to their doctor’s appointments and visits with them with a ready smile and reassuring words while they are waiting to see the doctor.

As a member of the Friends of Parmly Leadership Team, she is actively involved in planning Parmly’s annual events--the Advent Tea, Hammin’ it Up for Parmly and Noodlin’ it Up for Parmly.

She is the “General Kitchen Coordinator” for the Ham Dinner working tirelessly so that our 400+ guests can enjoy their meal. You may have purchased a ticket from her for either of the dinners or eaten one of her bars or desserts. For the Advent Tea, she also donates baked items as well as working at the Resident Council bake sale.

As a former 3M retired employee, 3M makes a donation to Parmly each year in recognition of Dorothy’s volunteer time.

As Dorothy says, “I have met so many nice people at Parmly. I just can’t say enough about the employees, who are so kind and have a Christian attitude.” In describing why she volunteers, she says, “I made an obligation, and I am expected to be there!”

Colleen Guilfoile, Community Volunteer and Events Coordinator, said of Dorothy, “Few could challenge the enthusiasm and dedication that she brings each time she comes to Parmly to volunteer. Our Residents, staff and other volunteers look forward to when Dorothy is here as a part of the volunteer crew.”

Congratulations, Dorothy for giving of your time and your heart whenever you volunteer at Parmly!
